The Assistant Director of Technical Services supports the Director in overseeing daily operations, team leadership, and strategic planning for the technical services division within a high-volume convention resort. This position ensures seamless execution of A/V, digital signage, and event production, while maintaining a strong focus on service quality, system reliability, and alignment with brand standards.

Duties:

  • Assists in leading a multi-disciplinary team responsible for A/V, digital signage, and event production across the resort.
  • Oversees the technical setup, breakdown, and maintenance for conferences, entertainment venues, and other resort events.
  • Manages day-to-day resort-wide technical services, including proactive equipment maintenance and timely troubleshooting.
  • Collaborates with IT, Facilities, and Convention Services to support evolving event and operational needs.
  • Develops and implements standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent execution, safety, and technical compliance.
  • Coordinates training and development for technical staff, ensuring alignment with current protocols, service standards, and technologies.
  • Participates in planning, procurement, and inventory processes for technical equipment in partnership with the Director.
  • Monitors service metrics, performance data, and guest feedback to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Ensures compliance with all relevant codes, regulations, and gaming control board technology requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Theater, Information Technology, Event Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Must be able to complete the OSHA 30 course within 14 days of hire.
  • Technical certifications (e.g., CTS, Dante, Crestron, Extron) are a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience in A/V or technical services management, preferably in a resort, casino, or event production setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of audio, video, lighting, rigging, and networking systems.
  • Familiarity with casino tech platforms, digital signage, and conference software tools.
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on event and resort needs.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with a background in managing large or cross-functional teams.
